Western Astrology is complex and dynamic. There are many sects and while I’ve looked into harmonic charts, sidereal, Vedic and progressions, I didn’t resonate with them and found their teachings unreliable. It took me a long time to come around to what I do follow because I had found a much better astrology very early on in my searching. Its’ accuracy was mind blowing and it helped me understand fundamental natures which western astrology struggles with. Western astrology is like a lens you see through and this particular astrology is like your wavelength you’re on.
but the thing is, it’s not an astrology. It’s not a study of the stars, it’s a count of days in sync with the moon and the human Calendar of 9 months. It’s origins date far back sometime in the b.c. but thrived around 500a.d. in Central America in the Yucatan peninsula until their people disappeared into the trees and the Aztec empire overpowered it.
The Mayans seemed to have knowledge none of the world had and their persistent accuracy in their star and earth predictions is evidence they were operating from a higher mindset. Knowledge like this is terrifying because there isn’t an explanation for it. Unlike reading the placement of the planets in an arbitrary part of the sky that’s highly generalized and exaggerated, we can chuck that up to social relations in our collective conscious. The meaning for it is vague and it doesn’t really need one. Did Pluto have an effect on humans before humans knew about Pluto? Yes. Greatly. So did Neptune. How is that possible? Human Seasons are roughly following patterns over time and on a large enough scale, you’re going to see patterns with the remnants of our synchronized understandings that are largely and vastly not effected by time.
But Mayans had a Calendar that is difficult to understand. I don’t use it for synastry at all because of that. Because it holds keys of consciousness for every individual, it carries a blueprint of a process to evolve. It tells a story throughout all the consciousness and makes a time and space for them by giving then form and function. That function resonates deeply with people and reveals their inner motives. Western Astrology embodies ideals, visions and our web of a dreamed environment we have to carve an existence out of. It says what the weather will do, how the crops will grow. .. but it doesn’t tell you how you function in the web or prepare for the rain.
